Villupuram, Tamil Nadu: Demonstrating exemplary honesty and commitment to public service, two policemen of the Tamil Nadu Special Police Force helped return eight sovereigns of lost gold jewellery to its rightful owner during the Karthigai Uonjal Utsavam at Sri Angalaman Temple, Melmalaiyanur, on 19.11.2025.
On the festival day, constables Sathish and Dharmadurai of the 10th Battalion, who were deployed for temple security duty, found a packet containing gold jewellery. Without hesitation, they handed it over to Melmalaiyanur Police Station Inspector Mrs. Vinatha for safe custody.
Following verification, police traced the owner, Muniyandi, a resident of Tiruvannamalai district, whose family had accidentally misplaced the jewellery. After proper identification, the gold was officially returned to him in the presence of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the Inspector, and the police personnel involved.
The owner, who had been distressed for several days, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Villupuram District Police for their honesty, swift action, and public-friendly approach.
Police also ensured smooth crowd management during the Karthigai Amavasya Uonjal festival, enabling devotees—who previously waited for hours—to complete darshan in under an hour, earning wide appreciation from the public.
