SURAT: Police held a woman aged 20 for allegedly casting aside her newborn girl and booked her father for abandoning the baby in bushes. While Rakesh Pal had noticed a tender baby thrown in the bush he reported police and the infant was rescued. After the investigation, police arrested her mother Sangita Pal who had delivered the girl child at New Civil Hospital on Sept 1. She threw her baby because the family members of her husband did not want a girl child. It was under such circumstance she asked her father to abandon the new born said police. Therefore, her father Shambhu Paswan was also booked for abandoning the baby in the bushes in Vadod area. However, during the interrogation, Mr. Virendra the father of the infant replied that he did not even know about her plan to abandon the child. He learnt about it only when police came into contact with him, the official added. The infant had been taken to New Civil Hospital for treatment.]]>
