Meghalaya, October 21, 2025: On this solemn and significant day, the nation pauses to remember and pay heartfelt homage to the valiant police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty while upholding law and order and protecting the integrity of the nation.
Police Commemoration Day stands as a poignant reminder of the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of India’s police forces — men and women who face danger every day to ensure the safety and security of millions. Their courage and dedication continue to inspire generations of police personnel and citizens alike.
Every year on October 21, Police Commemoration Day is observed across the country to honor those who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. Ceremonies are held at police headquarters and memorials across States and Union Territories, with the central event taking place at the National Police Memorial, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
This year, the Police Commemoration Day 2025 event will be live webcast from the National Police Memorial, allowing citizens across the nation to join in paying tributes to the fallen heroes.
The solemn ceremony includes:
* Wreath-laying at the Martyrs’ Column,
* Reading of the Roll of Honour, listing the names of police personnel who laid down their lives in the past year, and
* Observance of two minutes of silence in their memory.
Senior officers of the Ministry of Home Affairs, heads of Central Armed Police Forces, State Police Chiefs, serving and retired officers, and family members of the martyrs participate in the event, reaffirming the collective gratitude of the nation.
As we observe Police Commemoration Day 2025, let us remember that behind every uniform is a story of duty, courage, and sacrifice. Their legacy lives on in every act of service rendered by the police forces today and in the years to come.
“Their courage protects our freedom, their sacrifice strengthens our peace.” Salute to the Martyrs of the Indian Police.
