Kottayam: In a commendable initiative led by the Kottayam District Police, an extensive and meticulously organized training program on immigration-related issues was conducted exclusively for the dedicated police officers serving within the district. The enlightening sessions, held at the esteemed police club, were inaugurated by the esteemed District Police Chief, Mr. K. Karthik IPS, setting a tone of enthusiasm and dedication for the participating officers.

The primary purpose behind organizing these classes was to equip the police officers with an enhanced skill set and profound knowledge in handling various aspects of immigration, thereby ensuring their efficacy and proficiency in dealing with related matters. It was a crucial step towards fostering a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding immigration and empowering the officers to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities in this specific domain.

The training sessions were meticulously structured and conducted under the esteemed guidance of Mr. Shyam Chand IFS, a distinguished member of the Indian Foreign Service and the protector of emigrants in Trivandrum. With his invaluable expertise and extensive experience in the field, Mr. Shyam Chand IFS adeptly covered a wide range of pertinent topics during the classes.

The comprehensive curriculum encompassed detailed insights into emigration laws, enabling the officers to navigate through the intricacies of the legal framework governing immigration. They were also provided with comprehensive knowledge on identifying forged job offer letters and counterfeit visas, thereby equipping them with the necessary tools to detect fraudulent activities and protect unsuspecting victims.

Moreover, the classes offered invaluable guidance on effectively assisting expatriates who have fallen victim to exploitation and fraud, instilling in the officers a sense of empathy and responsibility towards the welfare of individuals affected by such unlawful practices. Additionally, the officers were enlightened on the correct procedures to register complaints against illegal recruitment agencies, ensuring that appropriate actions could be taken to curb such illicit activities and bring perpetrators to justice.

Emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law, the training sessions also delved into the various legal aspects associated with immigration matters. This comprehensive approach aimed to empower the officers with the necessary knowledge and understanding to navigate complex legal scenarios related to immigration, ensuring compliance and fair treatment for all involved parties.

This well-structured training program was thoughtfully designed to maximize the participation and engagement of the officers. It encompassed the inclusion of all Deputy Superintendents of Police (DYSPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) from the district, providing an inclusive and collaborative learning environment.

Through this immersive and meticulously organized training program, the Kottayam District Police demonstrated their unwavering commitment to fostering excellence within their ranks and equipping their officers with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively address immigration-related challenges.
