Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu: The annual festival of the Holy Mother Mary Cathedral in Velankanni, Nagapattinam district, is set to commence on 29th August 2025 with the ceremonial flag hoisting and will conclude on 8th September 2025.
In view of the grand celebrations, senior police officials including Trichy Central Zone Police Chief Mr. K. Joshi Nirmal Kumar, IPS, Thanjavur Deputy Police Chief Mr. T. Ziaulhaq, IPS, Nagapattinam Superintendent of Police Mr. Su. Selvakumar, IPS, and Thiruvarur Superintendent of Police Mr. Karun Karat, IPS visited Velankanni on 21st August 2025.
The officers carried out an extensive inspection of the festival routes, public congregation areas, and transportation facilities. They held a review meeting with local officials and emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth traffic flow, effective crowd management, and providing pilgrims with hassle-free access to all arrangements.
The police assured that all necessary measures will be taken to guarantee the safety, security, and convenience of devotees attending the festival, reflecting their commitment to public service and orderly conduct of one of the region’s most significant religious events.
