Kottayam, Kerala: The Gandhinagar Police have successfully arrested an accused who had absconded while on bail in a 2019 murder case. The accused, earlier released on bail during trial, had been evading authorities since 2022.
A police team led by Gandhinagar Police Station SHO Sreejith T, SI Jayaprakash, ASI Dilip Verma, SCPO Ranjith, CPO Srinish Thankappan, Anoop Nikhil, Kishore and Venugopal has arrested him and will be produced before the Kottayam Sessions Court. The Officers tracked down the absconding accused after interviewing and verifying information from hundreds of individuals working in various locations. Their persistent efforts finally led to the arrest.
The murder case dates back to July 2019, when the body of a woman was found in a forested area near the medical college. The initial case of unnatural death was later converted into a murder case following detailed investigation, leading to the earlier arrest of the accused in 2019.
The arrested individual will be produced before the Sessions Court. The District Police have appreciated the relentless and systematic work of the investigation team, which ensured that an absconding accused was brought back to face trial.
