Wayanad, Kerala: Setting an inspiring example of community-friendly policing, the district police organized a special study tour for tribal students from various schools. The initiative was undertaken under the instructions of District Police Chief Taposh Basumatari IPS and coordinated by the District Janamaithri Police as part of the Tribal Janamaithri project.
Students from high schools within the limits of Thirunelli, Thondarnadu, Thalappuzha, Mananthavady, Vellamunda and Padinjarathara police stations participated in the program. Over a period of four days, around 200 students travelled in police vehicles to different destinations as part of the study tour.
The program provided students with exposure beyond the classroom, strengthened trust between the tribal community and the police, and offered valuable lessons on safety, discipline, and civic awareness. Parents and teachers widely appreciated the initiative, noting that such outreach efforts help bridge gaps and build positive relationships between citizens and law enforcement.
The district police expressed their commitment to continue similar community-oriented programs in the future.
