The police have charged a father and son with murder after an investigation into a recent incident in which a 42-year-old Tamil Nadu native was beaten to death at Mannur near Feroke. The police booked the two after examining the closed circuit television camera (CCTV) visuals from their house. The accused, along with a few others, had allegedly beaten up the victim, named Kubera, after he was caught during a suspected theft attempt at their house. The man, who was grievously injured, was declared dead at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on July 27. The police had initially registered a case of unnatural death under Section 174 of the IPC. However, after the release of the post-mortem report, which mentioned grievous injuries on the body, they registered a fresh case under IPC Section 302 (Punishment for murder). The investigation was led by Cheruvannur Circle Inspector Mr. Rajesh Kumar.
