BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Police in a very swift action nabbed a nine member gang including a rowdy from Bellary and his wife, who kidnapped two realtors from Chennai when they were on a visit to Bengaluru at gun point and extorted Rs. 9 lakh from them on 21 August, Sunday. Realtors Muthu Kumar and Madan Kumar were kidnapped by the accused Nagaraj. The accused who has multiple cases against him in different police stations throughout Karnataka along with his associates followed the victims. The gang intercepted the realtors near Hebbal, when they were returning home after a party. The accused attacked the driver Manikantan, but he managed to escape following which the accused bundled Madan and Muthu in their BMW car and sped away. The duo was taken to a house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, belonging to one of the victims. The accused beat up and tortured the victims forcing them to call their friends to transfer the cash online. Meanwhile, Manikantan reported the incident to the police, who swung into action and managed to track down the accused and rescued Muthu and Madan Kumar. The associates of Nagraj were also arrested by the Police and recovered two revolvers, live ammunition and BMW car. Sangeetha,38, the wife of prime accused was also arrested after she had withdrawn the cash from a bank in Ballary as soon as the ransom amount was transferred. Nagaraj used to visit pubs and star hotels to identify people who came in high end cars and spend lavishly, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Mr P.S. Harsha said. After setting a target he would alert the gang members and they would follow and abduct the victim for ransom. The accused have been taken into police custody and further investigations were on, police said. ]]>
