Haridwar: On Friday morning, two Kandwadias while trying to fetch holy water got drown in the Ganga Ghats in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. They were under the surveillance of the water police deployed on guard. Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage for the devotees of Lord Shiva known as kanwadias, who visit Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy waters of river Ganga during the auspicious Hindu month of Shravan. This year, the yatra began in July. On this occasion, two Kanwadias too had gone to fetch water from Haridwar as ritualistic practices. At that moment, the pilgrims got drown and were rescued by Water Police at different locations. The Haridwar police had posted divers and Apada Mitras on Ganga Ghats to prevent the incidents of the drowning of Kndwad pilgrims. Persons rescued were identified as Vinod of Delhi and Sundar Par of Baghpat, Haryana. On this occasion, the police stated that the number of Kanwad pilgrims getting in the strong current of the Ganga is also on the rise.  ]]>
