Thrissur, Kerala: In a significant judgment reinforcing the commitment to women’s safety, the Thrissur Fast Track Special Court No. 1 has sentenced Faisal (33), a native of Chembad, Thalassery, Kannur district, to four years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹35,000 for attempting to sexually assault a minor girl traveling in a bus.
The incident occurred in October 2023, when the victim, a school student, was on her way home. Following a prompt investigation by the Thrissur West Police, the accused was arrested and a detailed charge sheet was filed before the Hon’ble Court.
The case was investigated under the supervision of the then Sub-Inspector of Police, Thrissur West Police Station, Anoop V. B., who meticulously completed the probe and submitted the final report. The prosecution was represented by Public Prosecutor K. Suraj, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Sridevi, who served as the liaison officer, extended valuable assistance during the court proceedings.
The court’s verdict serves as a stern message against crimes targeting women and children and reflects the relentless efforts of the police and prosecution to ensure justice for victims of such offences.
