<![CDATA[Nashik: A police team from Nashik and Jalgaon, deployed to arrest a suspect in the Pakhal Road area of the city was attacked by the suspect and his associates in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The Mumbai Naka police, however, arrested all the accused and produced them before a city court which remanded them to eight-day judicial custody. The Mumbai Naka police said that police party from the Erandole tehsil in Jalgaon district had come to the city in search of a suspect, who had allegedly committed a case of fraud in Erandole. The party approached the Nashik police for assistance in nabbing the suspect identified as Iftekar Bashir Sayyed. Constable Rajendra Devre had accompanied the Jalgaon team but as the police party reached Anjum Park, on Pakhal road at 4.30 am on Thursday, a group of about 10 persons attacked them. Devre, suffered injuries in the attack and had to be shifted to the Nashik civil hospital for treatment.Seven persons were arrested by the Mumbai Naka police on charges of assaulting the policemen on duty.]]>
