Sivagangai: In Sivagangai, on the morning of May 26, 2023, Mrs. Valli Mayil (40), residing in Pudukottai village near Devakottai, placed Rs.60,000 in her purse and placed it in the front of her two-wheeler. She intended to utilize the money to pay for her son’s college education fees by depositing it into the college’s bank account. While on her two-wheeler, the purse accidentally slipped and fell between Devakottai Infant Jesus school and Awaram forest.
Fortunately, Kannan, an auto driver passing by, noticed the fallen purse and realized that it contained something valuable. Upon opening it, he discovered the money inside. Recognizing the importance of the situation, Kannan took the purse, along with the money, and promptly handed it over to the city police inspector.
Inspector Saravanan carefully examined the address found within the purse and contacted its rightful owner, Mrs. Valli Mayil. He requested her presence at Valli Mailai Police Station, where he returned the purse, now containing Rs.62,430/-, in the presence of Kannan, the honest auto driver. In recognition of his integrity, the Police Inspector commended Kannan and expressed his gratitude by honoring him with a shawl. The event took place with the presence of Devakottai city police inspector Mr. Ansari Hussain, Mr. Namachivayam, and other police personnel.
