Prakasam: Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi lauded Prakasam District SP for scrupulous supervision in getting the accused to punishment in POCSO cases.
Prominent child rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi specially lauded Prakasam District SP Mrs. Malika Garg IPS and police personnel through a phone call for their meticulous efforts in getting death penalty for the accused who had raped and murdered a 7-year-old girl.
The District SP took the POCSO case of brutally raping and killing a 7-year-old girl and throwing her into the drainage under the jurisdiction of Giddalur Police Station, Prakasam district and ordered the police to conduct a thorough investigation, got arrested the accused within 48 hours, sent him to remand and file a charge sheet in the court and then the SP paid personal supervision on Prosecution of the case by a special Good Trial Monitoring Team on POCSO cases so that the accused couldn’t escape the law under any circumstances and presented sufficient evidence in the court in getting the accused sentenced to death penalty on 25.1.2023.
With a aim to reduce the sexual offences on children/minor girls in Prakasam district, the SP has formed a special good monitoring team on POCSO cases and supervising the investigation, arrest of the accused and court trial in each POCSO case registered in the district on a daily basis and giving appropriate suggestions and advice to the authorities from time to time. As a result, perpetrators of sexual assaults on children are being sentenced to harsher punishments. He also appreciated the work of Andhra Pradesh police under leadership of DGP Mr. Kasireddy Rajendranath Reddy IPS for getting very high number of convictions in 2022.
