Villupuram: In Villupuram Salamet, there is temple named Muthumariamman Temple. In this temple, every year the villagers unitedly conducted the festival. In this context, it is said that there was a problem between the two parties in getting compensation from the Railway Department regarding the location of the temple. Meanwhile, the festival of the temple started yesterday with the ceremony of building the roof. The main event is the Sedal Utsavam on the 2nd (Friday). It is said that one party kept aside the festival and another party made preparations for the festival. Due to this, a problem arose between the two parties regarding the conduct of the festival.
Subsequently, the revenue department officials and the police conducted an investigation into the matter. A peace committee meeting was held at Villupuram Kottakshiar’s office to invite both sides to conduct the festival in a peaceful manner. Kotakshiar Ravichandran presided over the meeting. Tehsildar Anandakumar, Kotakshiar Interview Assistant Srinivasan, Police Inspectors Mr. Selvaraj, Anandan, Assistant Inspector of Police, Mr. Paraninathan, took the lead. In this both parties from Salamedu area and public participated. Both the parties assured that they will conduct the festival in harmony without any law and order problem arising in the meeting. This meeting ended smoothly.
