Rachakonda: Under the leadership and guidance of Commissioner of Police Mr. Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat IPS marched ahead yet again for empowering women in the rural sector by navigating avenues on developing entrepreneurial skills. This is a unique program first of this kind in the state which is initiated with a collaboration of Rachakonda Police, Rachakonda Security Council (RKSC), and CSIR – Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT). Multiple options on startups were explained and it was collectively decided to start the first entrepreneurship project in Narayanpur, Choutuppal “Accelerated Anaerobic Composting -AAC) of organic waste. Apart from providing opportunities for employment, this will also help the environment towards sustainability.
On the auspicious occasion of Dussehra which is a symbolic representation of Women Power, DCP SHE teams Ms. Saleema convened the program with more than 100 women who showed a lot of eagerness and enthusiasm to learn about the self-employment schemes. She has set the context of this initiative and explained how this program can benefit women.
RKSC – Women’s Forum Jt Secretary Latha Ramasubramanyam spoke about women taking lead roles for the upliftment of society as a whole. She spoke about the financial independence women should have and how they can be part of sustainable growth Mr. Kattala Bikshapathi, Sarpanch – Narayanpur who presided over the meeting assured to take this project on the fast track. He will support by identifying suitable land as appropriate, provide suitable bins for segregating wet waste to households (about 2000 residents are residing in this area), and vehicles for transporting to the site.
Dr.D.Shailaja, Chief Scientist and Chair of Business Development – CSIR, IICT explained the concept of this project in detail and how the support will be extended to the prospective women. She informed about the modality of realizing the project by involving stakeholders from Grampari- COWE for necessary financial assistance and technical support from team CSIR IICT. Dr. S Srilatha and Dr. P Anil Kumar from CSIR-IICT have also explained other schemes which are available for the upliftment of the rural sector in the areas of health, crafts, food, and farmer-centric programs. About 30 interested women will be selected who will be divided into 5 teams for running this program to start with. Projects leads will be identified who will be the interface between the CSIR-IICT and the village leadership. The entire project will be overseen by the sarpanch. Mr. Kattala Bikshapathi sarpanch of Narayanpur announced the allocation of land, agreed to distribute bins to gather the wet and dry waste. Tractor to collect the waste from the doorsteps and deposit it at the compost plant.
Ms. Archana Manne lead Sangamitra of RKSC Womens’ Forum spoke on the importance of participation of women in all social activities. The day was concluded with an announcement by Dr. Shailaja of also providing a free skill development training of lab technicians to about 25 students people which is approved by Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar – Director CSIR-IICT who always strives for the upliftment of the society. CI Chottupal Rural Venkataiah was instrumental in the successful launch of this program. CP Rachakonda Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat IPS have appreciated this initiative for the empowerment of rural women and thanked CSIR-IICT for taking a lead.
