BENGALURU: Vehicles carrying Tamil Nadu MLAs were attacked by protesters who had gathered along the roadside leading to the central prisons Parapanna Agrahara and hurled abuses at Sasikala accusing her of killing Jayalalithaa. When Sasikala’s convoy went past the double road a mob pelted stones at the government vehicles that were carrying MLAs. Stones and slippers were thrown at the cars in which Tamil Nadu MLA’s were travelling. A few protesters smashed the windshields of at least five cars and hurled abuses at MLAs. The protestors also objected to MLAs using government vehicles to travel from Chennai to Bengaluru. MLAs supporting Sasikala were abused. One AIADMK leader tried to pacify the crowd by saying they were just following orders of the party senior leaders, but the mob continued to attack the vehicles with stones and helmets. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd as even as the situation was turning to be violent. The agitating mob accused the AIADMK leaders of misleading the people of Tamil Nadu. The identity of the protesters could not be established, a senior police official said. “The mob may be frenzied and may include some local Tamil-speaking people. The situation was tense for nearly 15 minutes as the crowd,” he said. Elaborate security arrangements were made by City Police for smooth passage of Sasikala’s convoy. Traffic police were deployed from the Naganathapura junction, the entry point of Bengaluru City Police Jurisdiction. Movement of vehicles was stopped by Police to ensure hassle-free movement of around 15 vehicles that had accompanied Sasikala’s car, Police said.]]>
