Thrissur City: In connection with Onam celebrations, traffic arrangements will be implemented in Thrissur city starting from the morning of Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Parking will be prohibited in the Swaraj Round and Thekinkad Maidan Naikkanal areas, where Onam events are taking place. Traffic around Swaraj Round and nearby roads will be regulated from 2 pm onwards, and no vehicles will be allowed into the area until the Pulikali (tiger dance) concludes. The public is urged to avoid traveling by private vehicles unless necessary, to help alleviate traffic congestion. Those attending the Pulikali should observe the event from a safe area within Thekinkadu Maidan or along the footpath. Spectators are strictly prohibited from climbing trees, unstable buildings, or entering under-construction or unsafe structures in and around Thrissur to watch the performance. Visitors to the city should park in designated parking areas and refrain from parking on the roadside.

On Pulikali Day, police officers will be stationed throughout Swaraj Round and surrounding areas under the supervision of the Thrissur Assistant Commissioner, divided into various sectors to manage law and order and traffic arrangements. Foot, two-wheeler, and jeep patrols will be active to prevent traffic jams. Special plainclothes and shadow police officers have been deployed to control any disturbances caused by anti-social elements, especially targeting harassment against women and children. CCTV cameras have been installed for 24-hour surveillance at key public areas, including Thekinkadu Maidan, bus stands, and railway stations.
