Purba Burdwan: The Women Police Station under Purba Burdwan District Police organized an awareness program, pertaining to child marriage and anti-human trafficking. The people were made aware by the police about the ill-effects of child marriage. Child marriage affects both girls and boys, but it affects girls disproportionately. Child marriage violates children’s rights and places them at high risk of violence, exploitation, and abuse.
The National Commission for Women launched an Anti-Human Trafficking Cell. It aims to improve effectiveness in tackling cases of human trafficking, raising awareness among women and girls, capacity building and training of Anti Trafficking Units and to increase responsiveness of law enforcement agencies.
