Meenangadi: In Meenangadi, three members of the citation gang have direct connections to the assassination attempt in Karani. Under the leadership of Sultan Batheri DYSP Mr. Abdul Sharif, who was appointed by Wayanad District Police Chief Mr. Padam Singh IPS, a team consisting of Meenangadi Inspector Biju Anthony, Sultan Bathery Inspector MA Santosh bravely apprehended the suspects in Theni and Trichy, Tamil Nadu. Varatharajan and Aswathaman are facing charges in multiple criminal cases related to Jellikattu and Kozhikode in Tamil Nadu.
On the morning of the 13th, a masked gang armed with deadly weapons forcibly entered a residence, attempting to kill Ashkar Ali, a native of Karani who is also accused in several cases. They restrained his father in the process. The arrested individuals are Mannam Kokarni Parampil Sarath (34), Manjali Kandarat Ahmed Masood (27), and Mannam Kokarni Parampil KA from Ernakulam North Paravur. Also apprehended are Ashbin (26) from Kallaparam and Kampalakkad’s K.M. The investigative team had previously arrested Fahad (28) and confiscated the weapons used in the attack. District police chief Mr. Padam Singh IPS stated that the focus of further investigation will be on the citation teams. The accused have been presented in court and remanded.
