Rachakonda: The complainant in her complaint stated that she received an Instagram friend request from an Instagram id that consists of her friend’s picture as the profile picture, believing it to be her friend’s account, she accepted the friend request. Since then, she started receiving threatening messages from the culprit that he will morph her pictures and upload them m dating websites thus harassing her.
Based on her complaint a case was registered with the Rachakonda cybercrime Police Station and the police took up the investigation, during which it was revealed that the accused Padakanti Varun(19), a student of Jagityal district who is pursuing a Diploma, the accused got a foul idea and created a fake Instagram account by keeping an unknown girls picture as the profile picture and sent friend requests to different girls Instagram accounts, in the course, one request reached the victim who believed it be her friend and accepted the culprit’s friend request. Since then he started harassing her by blackmailing her that he will upload her morphed pictures on dating websites, not stopping there, he further also created a fake Instagram id in the name of the victim with her profile picture and sent friend requests to the victim’s family members and friends.
This caused mental agony to the victim. During the course of the Investigation the 10 collected all the technical evidence and after analyzing the data, on credible information, arrested the accused on 03.12.2021, Seized articles: 2 Mobile Phones and 1 SIM Card which were used for the commission of offense from the possession of the accused and produced him before the Hon’ble Court and sent to judicial custody.
Under the direct supervision and leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, and Mr. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Addl. Commissioner of Police, with the guidance of Mr. P. Yadagiri, DCP Crimes, and Mr. S. Harinath, Asst. Commissioner of Police the case was investigated by Inspector Mr. M. Shankar Inspector of Cyber Crimes and apprehended the accused.
