Rachakonda: Today Cyber Crimes Police of Rachakonda Commissionerate arrested a Cyber stalker for harassing a married woman on social media by creating fake Instagram account, and sent him for Judicial Custody.
The accused was identified as Mudethula Prasanth, S/o, Illaiah, Age: 30 years, R/o Chengicherla, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, N/o. Kalva Srirampur, Karimagar.
The police seized one mobile phone and SIM card which was used in the commission of offence.
On 21-03-2022 received a petition from Victim’s husband stating that, his wife received message from an unknown Instagram account bhavii 098 to her account stating that, she is very well known to her and also he revealed her WhatsApp number. On 19-3-2022 at around 06:28 pm the above user made an Instagram video call to his wife, when she lifted the call, the user showed his private parts to her and recorded the video call and took screen shots of it. Later he started sending those screen shots and video to her Instagram friends and also he hacked her Instagram account and sending above videos to her friends through her account due to which her friends were asking why she was sharing that obscene video. The unknown user created fake accounts with his wife’s pictures and sending vulgar messages to her friend through Instagram due to this harassment complainant and his wife were facing mental trauma and requested to take necessary legal action. Basing on the complaint at Cyber Crime Police Station, Rachakonda a case was registered under the IT Act and investigation entrusted to J.Narender Goud, Inspector of Police.
During the course of investigation the IO has collected all the technical data from the concerned and zeroed on the accused. Today morning the accused was arrested and he admitted his guilt.
The accused is a software employee working in a reputed company at Hyderabad. He created a fake Instagram account “bhavii 098” in the month of March 2022 and randomly searched in Instagram for woman profiles, when he found the victim’s profile, he sent a friend request. When she accepted the same, he found her WhatsApp number from her previous posts on Instagram and he started chatting with her by impersonating as her childhood friend.
Later the accused made a video call to the victim through Instagram, when she lifted the call, he started screen recording and shown his private body parts by covering his face to her and saved the same in his phone. Further he changed the name of fake Instagram to victim’s name and added her original profile pic to that fake account. Then he impersonating as her, sent friend requests to her profile friends. Whoever accepted the request; he sent above recorded video with abusive messages and defamed her character. After committing the said offence, he deleted the Instagram profile and Gmail ID only to escape from the Police.
During the course of Investigation the 10 collected all the technical evidences and after analyzing the data and other credible information, the accused was arrested on 06.06.2022 and produced him before the Hon’ble Court for judicial custody.
Caution: Netizens especially girls/women are advised not to accept any friend requests from strangers received on any social media platforms and also advised to never post personal phone/WhatsApp numbers in social media platforms.
Under the direct supervision and leadership of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police and Mr. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Addl. Commissioner of Police with the guidance of Mr. P. Yadagiri, IPS, DCP Crimes and Mr. S. Harinath ACP Cyber Crimes, Rachakonda, the case investigated by Inspector Mr. J.Narender Goud of Cyber Crimes and apprehended the accused.
