Rachakonda: On 1.12.2022 at about 14:15 hours Mr. Raj Kumar Surana s/o Bhagvati Lalji Surana, a Businessman running Ganpathi Jewellers at Pot Market / Monda Market, Secunderabad along with his Assistant Sukha Ram alias Sukhdev Devasi started on his motorcycle, from his home carrying about 3 Kgs readymade gold ornaments in a bag to sell in different jewelry shops in the city. As per their weekly schedule, like every Thursday they went to Navaratna jewelry shop at Boduppal, Navakar jewelry shop at Peerzadiguda Kaman, Raj Laxmi jewelry shop at Sushma, Bhavani jewelers, Sri Gajendra Jewelers in Vanasthalipuram and in these shops they sold about 135 gms gold and received Rs. 2,63,600/-. They finally reached Mahadev Jewellers at Snehapuri Colony, Kothapet. Chaitanyapuri around 20:00hours and waited as shop owner Kalyan Chowdhary was busy with the customers. When customers left, while they were displaying jewelry items to shop owner, two unknown persons entered into the shop and a third person closed the shutter from outside. One of the assailants threatened them with a pistol and asked them to handover the jewelry bag, when they resisted, he fired with pistol resulting in bullet wounds to Kalyan Chowdhary and Sukhdev. The assailants forcibly snatched their jewelry bag, opened the shutter and escaped on bikes.
Soon after the information from one responsible citizen, CP Rachakonda has alerted LB Nagar zone Law & Order police, SOT, Crime, IT cell teams. Addi CP Rachakonda Mr. G Sudhir Babu IPS, DCP LB Nagar Mr. Sunpreet Singh IPS, DCP Crime Sreebala with crime team, DCP SOT Muralidhar with SOT Teams, ACP LB Nagar Mr. Sreedhar Reddy, IT Cell Inspector Mr. Sreedhar Reddy with teams, Chaitanyapuri SHO Madhusudan, DI Venkanna and SHO LB Nagar Mr. Anji Reddy with Clues teams had personally visited the scene and started scientific investigation.A case was registered at Chaitanyapuri Police Station, Rachakonda. 15 teams were deployed to collect all technical and direct/indirect eyewitness evidence. Breakthrough in this case came through one of the crime vehicle number partially captured by CCTV and developed by CCS Inspector Mr. Ravi Kumar with help of IT Cell. After relentless efforts as on 7th December. 6 interstate offenders are arrested and the police recovered from their possession stolen jewellery, firearms and crime vehicles used to commit the crime and escape post offence. The kingpin of this gang has been found to be one Mahender Chowdhary running jewellery shop at Gajwel N/a. Paali district Rajasthan who hired Haryana, Delhi bound professional offenders to commit this heinous crime.

Investigation: On 6.12.22 while making efforts, on receipt of credible information the Chaitanyapuri police apprehended Sumer Chowdhary, Gudiya and Md. Firoz at Gajwel, Bhansi Ram alias Manish Dewasi at Ramayampet, Mainsh Vaishnav at Kondapaka and Ritesh Vaishnav at Palakurthy and drafted their confessions in the presence of mediators and recovered the stolen gold ornaments, weapons, crime vehicles and other incriminating material pertaining to this case.
The investigation established that the accused Mahender
was running jewellery business in the name & style as Jai Laxmi Jewellers at Gajwel. To earn quick and easy money, he hatched a plan to loot gold / cash from businessmen supplying to various jewelry shops and conspired with his wife Gudiya, his brother-in-law Sumer Chowdhary, acquaintances Md. Firoz, Bhansi ram alias Manish Dewasi and secured the presence of Sumit Dagar, Manish and Manya from Haryana/Rajasthan with deadly weapons to execute the armed dacoity with attempt to cause death. Accordingly, on 20.10.22 Haryana/Rajasthan offenders Sumit Dagar, Manya and Manish came to Gajwel and stayed in lodge in Gajwel for 7 days and conducted reccee with suggestions from Bhansi Ram alias Manish.
On 26.10.2022 in Gowraram Police Station limits of Siddipet the three accused Sumit Dagar, Manya and Manish threatened a Honda rider with weapon and took away the Honda Activa with Helmet. Later the accused shifted the vehicle to Rajasthan through Travel bus. The next day the accused left for Haryana.
Sumit Dagar, Manya and Manish returned again to Ramayampet on 20th November 2022 and were received by Banshi Ran alias Manish Dewasi and stayed with him for 3 days. They stayed at Hyderabad, Gajwel and other areas looking with Mahender and Banshi Ram alias Manish Dewasi, for ideal persons and places to commit offences.On 29th Sumit Dagar, Banshi Ram alias Manish Dewasi, Manish, Maniy, and Mohammed Firoz went to Gajwel Bajaj Showroom to purchase a Fast bike for escaping after commission of offence and Mohammed Firoz purchased a Pulsar in his name financed by Mahender.
On the day of offence 1.12.2022 around 10:30 hours Bansiram and Manya started from Ramayampet on White Honda Activa belonging to Banshi Ram and reached Pot market around 12:30 pm. Meanwhile Sumit Dagar and Manish started from Ramayampet around 11:30 hours on pulsar and waited near JBS. Banshi Ram alias Manish Dewasi and Maniya started watching movement of Raj Kumar Surana. At about 14:00 hours Raj Kumar started on his Honda from his jewelry shop along with his Shop Assistant Sukha Ram, with about 3 Kgs readymade Gold ornaments in a shoulder bag. As per their weekly schedule, went to Navaratna jewelry shop at Boduppal, Navakar jewelry shop at Peerzadiguda Kaman, Raj Laxmi jewelry shop at Sushma. Vanasthalipuram, Bhavani jewelers, Sri Gajendra Jewelers in NGOs colony. Vanasthalipuram, and in these shops, they sold about 135 gms gold and received Rs 2, 63, 600/-. Finally they reached Mahadev Jewellers at Snehapuri Colony, Kothapet. Chaitanyapuri around 20:00 hours, but had to wait as shop owner Kalyan Chowdhary was busy with customers. When customers left, while they were displaying jewelry items to shop owner. Sumit Dagar and Manish entered into the shop, while Manya closed the shutter from outside and Banshi Ram waited nearby with his Honda Activa ready. Sumit Dagar threatened the complainant, his assistant, shop owner with a pistol and asked them to handover the jewelry bag, when they resisted, he fired with the pistol resulting in bullet wounds to Kalyan Chowdhary and Sukhdev. Sumit Dagar forcibly snatched the jewelry bag, while Manish and Maniya opened the shutter and ranout. Sumit Dagar and Banshi Ram escaped with the stolen jewellery bag on the Honda Activa. Manish and Manya escaped on the pulsar and reached Uppal area and left the Pulsar in Habsiguda area.
Meanwhile Firoz drove Mahender in his XUV from Gajwel were waiting at a Restaurant in Uppal, on receiving a call from the offenders they rushed and picked up Sumit Dagar in XUV. Whereas Bansi Ram alias Manish went to Ramayampet on his Honda Activa. While Mahender and Sumit with stolen jewellery bag went to Palakurthy, Firoz got down at Ghatkesar Bus stop and picked up Manish and Manya and brought them to Jangaon by bus. By then Mahender reached Jangaon in the XUV after dropping Sumit Dagar at Palakurthy and drove them all to Palakurthy to the house of Ritesh Vaishnav and later from there to Gajwel.
On the same night Sumer Choudary picked up the crime vehicle, pulsar left by Manish and Maniya at Habsiguda and drove it to Gajwel. From there he went on the bike to Kondapaka with his sister Gudiya and hid the pulsar and bag containing firearms in the bedroom of Manish Vaishnav and returned to Gajwel and Gouraram. Later in the evening Sumer Choudaru accompanied Mahender to Palkurthy in Ertiga belonging to Mohan Dewasi and picked up Sumit Dagar, Manish and Maniya came to Gajwel. En-route, Mahender handed over 4 lakhs to Sumit Dagar and collected the bag containing with stolen gold ornaments and a pistol from him Sumit Dagar. Mahender handed over the bag to Sumer Choudary and on his instructions Gudiya and Sumer took some pouches of gold ornaments, one pistol and hid it in the house of Mahender. Later Sumer Choudary and Gudiya went to Toopran road on Mahender’s HF Deluxe Bike, and Gudiya boarded ERTIGA driven by Mahender in which the three offenders were present. Sumer Choudary came back to Mahender’s house and took the bag with two boxes of stolen gold jewelry, went to Kondapaka on his HF Deluxe motor cycle and hid the bag in the same room where they hid the Pulsar and weapons.
On 2nd December 2022 around 10:30 hours Mahender, Sumit Dagar, Manish, Maniya, Gudiya started in Ertiga car bearing registration no. TS-27-E-2903 and travelled towards Maharashtra by leaving the weapons and stolen gold ornaments to keep themselves safe from police checking’s. Around 00:30 hours Mahender dropped Gudiya at Nirmal from there she boarded a bus to Hyderabad and then returned to Gajwel.
Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda formed a Special Teams comprising of CCS, SOT, IT Cell and L & O police for investigation and detection of case. 4 Special Teams were constituted and deployed to Nagpur, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi for arresting the absconding inter-state criminals. Naveen Kumar carried out the instructions of the CP Rachakonda, detected the case and recovered the entire stolen property, crime weapons and other evidence in a record period. All were suitably rewarded. CP Rachakonda has advised jewellery shop owners to install sensors, alarms, CCTV cameras inside and outside of shop. Avoid routine movement of transportation of jewellery and always maintain elements of surprise.
