Rachakonda, Telangana, June 11, 2025: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking, the Special Operations Team (SOT), LB Nagar Zone, in a joint operation with the Abdullapurmet Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate, successfully intercepted an inter-state narcotics smuggling operation and seized 20 kilograms of Hashish Oil, valued at approximately ₹1.2 crore in the illicit market. Two accused have been apprehended, while further efforts are underway to nab additional absconding offenders. A case was registered at Abdullapurmet Police Station of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The Accused Arrested are Pangi Keshava Rao alias Kesha aged 40 years of Alluri Sita Ramaraju District, Andhra Pradesh and Jayaram Khemundu aged 26 of Koraput District, Odisha.
The Seized Property are Hashish Oil: 20 kilograms (estimated value ₹1.2 crore), Mobile Phones: 3, and Cash of ₹870.
Modus Operandi:
Initial investigation reveals that both accused were friends and first-time collaborators in drug trafficking, motivated by the prospect of easy money. They procured Hashish Oil from Krishna, a native of Dumbriguda Mandal, Alluri Sita Ramaraju District (presently absconding), who is also a childhood friend of Keshava Rao. Krishna reportedly initiated them into the narcotics network, promising substantial profits.
Hashish Oil was being procured at low cost in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha and transported via Hyderabad (used as a transit route) to Bengaluru, where it was sold for nearly 10 times the procurement rate.
Two days before their arrest, a buyer from Bengaluru placed an order for 20 KGs of Hashish Oil. Acting on credible intelligence, the SOT LB Nagar and Abdullapurmet Police conducted a raid in the early hours of June 11, 2025, near Sampoorna Hotel, Peddamberpet (near ORR) and apprehended the accused while they were waiting to deliver the consignment.
Ongoing Investigation:
- Efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend Krishna, the main supplier, and the Bengaluru-based buyer, both of whom are currently absconding.
- Keshava Rao has a prior NDPS case registered against him in Anakapally Town Police Station, Andhra Pradesh.
- The criminal backgrounds of both accused are being further verified.
It is estimated that 35–40 kilograms of ganja are used to produce just 1 kilogram of Hashish Oil, underlining the scale and profitability of the racket.
