Rachakonda: On 21/07/2021 at evening hours, on receipt of credible information, the sleuths of Special Operations Teams (SOT) Bhongir & Malkajgiri Zones nabbed a person namely Metri Raj Kumar belongs to Bidar district of Karnataka State under the limits of Saroarnagar Police Station while he was transporting the Ganja from the Gokavaram area of East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh State to Hyderabad. The Police seized 320 KGs of ganja, Mahindra Bolero goods carrier bearing registration no.TS-07-UA-8644, and a mobile phone all worth about Rs.40,00,000/-from his possession. A case was filed at Saroornagar Police Station.
The details of the accused persons are:
1.Metri Raj Kumar s/o Maruthi, age; 28 years, Bidar district of Karnataka State.
2.Ranga Lal, age; 25 years, Bidar district who is the Receiver and is Absconding.
Metri Raj Kumar is a native of Jambagi village, Aurad Taluk, Bidar district of Karnataka State. About four years ago, he migrated to Hyderabad and has been staying in Ambedkar Nagar Colony, Saroornagar along with his family. At present, he has been plying Mahindra Bolero goods carrier bearing no.TS-07-UA-8644 to transport the fruits to the Kothapet fruit market from different areas. Ranga Lal who is absconding also belongs to the Bidar district of Karnataka State and he is in a habit of smuggling the Ganja from different areas to the Bidar area. Since the native areas of both are located in close proximity, both of them got acquainted with each other at Hyderabad and became friends.
On 18.07.2021, the Bolero goods carrier of Metri Raj Kumar was engaged for hire to transport the Pomegranate from Kothapet fruit market to Rajahmundry. Accordingly, on the night of 18.07.2021, he left Hyderabad and reached Rajahmundry by afternoon on 19.07.2021. But, on coming to know that Metri Raj Kumar was proceeding to Rajahmundry, Ranga Lal has met him at Kothapet fruit market before he left from Kothapet fruit market and asked him to transport the Ganja from Gokavaram area of East Godavari district to Bidar area. For which when Ranga Lal offered to give him the share in illegal profits, Metri Raj Kumar to has willfully agreed to the illicit transportation of Ganja.
After getting unloaded the pomegranate at Rajahmundry, on the wee hours of 20.07.2021, Metri Raj Kumar left Rajahmundry and went to Gokavaram village & Mandal of East Godavari district and stayed in a lodge up to evening hours. Later, at about 7-00 p.m.. as stated by Ranga Lal, he went to a local petrol bunk. In the meantime, Ranga Lal came to Metri Raj Kumar and took him to the forest area located in the vicinity of Gokaravaram village by 3-00 a.m., on 21.07.2021. There, Ranga Lal got loaded (152) packets of Ganja containing about (2 to 2.5) KGs in each and total weighing about (320) KGs in the goods carrier vehicle of Metri Raj Kumar by keeping the Ganja in banana trays. Further, Metri Raj Kumar has kept some empty trays over the Ganja trays so as to simulate the Ganja trays also to be emptied. After that, Metri Raj Kumar went away in RTC bus directing Metri Raj Kumar to transport the Ganja to Bidar.
Accordingly, in the early hours of 21.07.2021, Metri Raj Kumar left the Gokavaram area and came to Hyderabad in order to transport the Ganja to the Bidar area of Karnataka State. But, on receipt of credible information, on 21.07.2021 of evening hours, the teams of SOT Bhongir & Malkajgiri zones jointly raided and apprehended Metri Raj Kumar near Kothapet fruit market under the limits of Saroornagar Police Station in possession of (320) KGs of Ganja which he was transporting illegally in his goods carrier vehicle. Seized the Ganja along with Bolero goods carrier and a mobile phone from the possession of Metri Raj Kumar and handed over the same to Saroornagar Police Station for further proceedings. As per the version of Metri Raj Kumar, it also came to know that Ranga Lal purchased the Ganja from an ur-known person at Rs.6000/- per KG with a view to selling it at Bidar area to the needy people at Rs.10,000/- per KG.

Commissioner of Police, Special Operations Team, Rachakonda, by Mr. Seetharam, Inspector of Police Saroornagar Police Station, Mr. Naveen, Inspector of Police, SOT Malkajgiri zone, Mr. Venkateshwarlu, Di Malkajgiri Police Station, Mr. P.Venkateshwarlu, Inspector of Police, Mr. Manmadha Kumar, SI of Police, SOT Bhongir zone and staff of SOT.
