Rachakonda: On a tip off, the Sleuths of Special Operations Team, LB Nagar Zone Team, along with LB Nagar police conducted raid at Plot No.1 Sai Sapthagiri Colony. Mansoorabad, LB Nagar, under the limits of LB Nagar Police Station, busted a cricket betting racket organized during T20 world super 12 match in between west Indies vs. Zimbambwe which is being conducted in Australia, apprehended 4 accused persons and seized net cash of Rs.6, 00, 000/- and frozen amount Rs.10, 71, 318/- in Two ICICI bank accounts belonging to Munukuntla Soundarya and Thota Koteshwar Rao, (04) Mobile phones and other incriminating material, from their possession.
A case was registered under the Telangana State Gaming Act of LB Nagar Police Station of Rachakonda Police Commissionerate.
The details of the accused persons:
Munukuntla Bhasker(35) S/o. Jangaiah, doing business and R/o. Sai Sapthagiri Colony, LB Nagar, Hyderabad. He is a Sub Bookie; Thota Koteshwar Rao(30) S/o. T. Narsimha Rao, working as a Driver, R/o Shiva Shankar Colony, LB Nagar, Hyderabad. He is an Accountant; Govind Rajesh Kumar(35) S/o. G. Seetaiah, doing Business, R/o Siddarth Apartment, LB Nagar, Hyderabad. He is a Punter; Konduru Srinivas(40) S/o. K. Mallaiah, He is doing Real Estate Business, R/o. Telephone colony, Meerpet, Hyderabad. He is a Punter.
The absconding accused person is Uddaraju Sathish Raju R/o Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. He is a Bookie and is not available for examination.
The Police seized Net Cash Rs. 6,00,000/-, Betting amount frozen in (02) Banks Rs.10,71,318/-, Mobile Phones-4 Nos. All properly is worth Rs.16,71,318/-.
The accused Munukuntla Bhasker is resident of Sai Sapthagiri Colony, Mansoorabad, LB Nagar who is sub-bookie addicted to betting and earning easy money by organizing and accepting cricket betting’s in Hyderabad during T20 World cup cricket match.
Uddaraju Sathish Raju is the main bookie used to provide the weblink to the Munukuntla Bhasker on his request to the clients. Uddaraju Sathish Raju created a user ID and password in the metro exchange betting which is online betting app, where users can bet on multiple games by registering themselves and obtain the user id and password and there is a subscription fee. The punter who wants to play the online betting should contact Munukuntla Bhasker, in turn Bhasker forwards his name to Uddaraju Sathish Raju who creates a login id and password and forward the same to Bhaskar, simultaneously to the punter. After getting the user id and password, the punter has to pay certain amount to play in the website, so he will transfer certain amount directly or in-directly through Paytm, PhonePay, Gpay to Bhaskar and he will credit points to the punter to play.
Munukuntla Bhasker used to provide the account number of Koteshwar Rao to his sub-bookies, as soon as he received the amount, he will transfer the amount to the bank account of Soundarya to divert the attention of the police. On every weekend they will evaluate profit and loss and the same will be settled.
Modus Operandi: The betting starts after the first ball of first over and goes on till the last ball. It fluctuates depending up on the situation of match. The punters make calls to the bookies while the match is running and place their betting. While placing betting the Bookies note down the details of betting and punter and the conversation will also automatically get recorded. After completion of match, bookies inform to their collection agents about the details of collection and distribution of amount that how much amount has to collect from a particular punter and how much amount has to give.
Based on that information the collection agents collect the money from loosers and distribute the money to winners and the remaining amount which is the profit will be given to Bookie. Sometimes punters directly send money to the Bookies to their bank accounts using Paytm, Net Banking, etc. Main bookie gives 3% to sub bookies in overall profits.
On 19.10.2022 in the evening hours, on credible information the sleuths of SOT, LB Nagar Zone Team along with LB Nagar police conducted raid on accused Munukuntla Bhaskar’s house located at Sai Sapathagiri Colony, Mansoorabad, LB Nagar and apprehended the above accused persons who are accepting cricket betting during West Indies vs. Zimbabwe T20 World cup Super-12 Match over website metro exchange betting app for ongoing T20 world cup cricket matches from the known punters and his close friends in an organized manner and earning money illegally.

Anji Reddy, Inspector of Police, LB Nagar police station, Sub-Inspectors Mr. Md. Thakiuddin, B. Dayakar Reddy and police personnel of SOT, LB Nagar Zone and Saroor Nagar police, Rachakonda.
