Rachakonda: On 18.2.2022 in the evening hours. On the tip-off information the sleuths of SOT Malkajgin Zone, Rachakonda along with Jawahar Nagar Police, apprehended 2 persons along with one trolley auto at Chennapuram x roads, Jawahar Nagar Police Station limits while transporting PDS Rice illegally and subsequently conducted raids on PDS rice godowns at Muneerabad, Shameapet and apprehended another 2 persons and seized 56.5 tonnes of PDS rice. A case was registered at Jawahar Nagar Police Station.
The accused arrested persons are Mekala Rakesh Kumar alias Ramakrishna (32) the main organizer, Bukya Lalu (19) the collection agent, Guguloth Narendra (23) the collection agent, Koneru Shekar (27) the lorry driver. The absconding accused are B. Sandeep resident of Gajwel.
On a piece of tip-off information, the sleuths of SOT Mlakajgiri Zone and Jawahar Nagar Police intercepted one trolley auto at Chennapuram x roads, in the limits of Jawahar Nagar Police Station while transporting PDS Rice illegally and on the lead by the accused raided a Godown at Muneerabad, Shameerpet and apprehended 2 more persons who are indulging in this illegal trading of PDS rice which is supplied to the ration shop dealers. The Main Organizer resident Alwal along with his henchmen are indulging in PDS (Public Distribution System) Rice for illegal trading, transporting to Gollapalli FCI Godown, Pragnapur with help of Sandeep, and making money illegally by this business. The organizers are having contacts with the PDS rice agents and beneficiaries and purchasing for less price and dumping the PDS rice stock at rented Godowns in secluded places on the outskirts and after collecting approximately about 100 tons of PDS rice and after dealing with the buyers’ rice mill owners and transporting to FCI Godown, Gollapally, Pragnapur, Medak Districts are secretly loading the PDS rice bags into the lorry and by properly covering it are transporting to other states at a higher price and making money illegally. Bukya Lalu and Guguloth Narendra were used to collect the PDS Rice from the beneficiaries at the rate of Rs.8/ per KG and hand over the same to Mekala Rakesh Kumar alias Ramakrishna at his Godown and collect Rs.13/- per each KG. In turn, Mekala Rakesh Kumar alias Ramakrishna sold the same to B. Sandeep at the rate of Rs.17/- per KG and gained illegally. Koneru Shekar is the Lorry Driver.
It is alleged that the rice millers re-refine the PDS rice and sell it in the black market for exorbitant prices to gain huge profits. The PDS rice is a Government scheme to serve the right purpose of feeding the poor and hungry. Due to the involvement of dealers, agents and brokers the PDS rice is side-tracked and the mill owners merchants are the beneficiaries who are buying and selling in the black market.
The Police seized about 56.75 tons of PDS rice for illegal stocking of subsidized rice from a Godown wherein 4 persons involved in transporting the PDS rice by Lorry and Auto to a go down at Muneerabad Shameerpet via Chennapuram X Roads in Jawahamagar Police Station limits was apprehended. Efforts are in progress to nab the absconding accused.
The Police seized PDS Rice-56.75 Tons (Total 1135 bags, each bag containing 50 kilograms), Lorry bearing registration No.TS 36T 1818, Auto bearing registration No. TS 30 T 3918, Cell phones-04, Weighing Machines-04, Stitching Machines-02, Net cash Rs.8, 42, 580/- (Seized from the Possession of Al) all worth Rs.40 Lakhs.
The above raids and arrests were made under the supervision of Mr. Mahesh M Bhagwat, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, Mr. G. Sudheer Babu, Additional Commissioner of Police, and by Ms. Rakshitha K Murthy, IPS, Dy. Commissioner of Police. Malkajgin Zone, Mr. P. Yadagini, IPS, DCP Crimes, Ic SOT Rachakonda, Mr. K. Shiva Kumar, Addl. DCP, Kushaiguda Division, Mr. A. Sudhakar, Inspector SOT Malkajgin Zone, and team, Mr. K. Chandra Shekar, Inspector of Police, Mr. B V Koushik, SI of Jawahamagar PS and team.
