Rachakonda: Rachakonda police have nabbed a gang of cannabis smugglers in Bhadrachalam, Agency area who were buying cannabis for Rs.3, 000 and smuggling it to Mumbai for Rs.12, 000. Police seized 410 kg of cannabis, two cars and three cellphones from them. Rachakonda Commissioner Mr. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS along with Special Operation Team (SOT) DCP Mr. K. Muralidhar disclosed the details on Wednesday.
Gudlanaram Venkat Narayana hails from Byrapur village in Nagarkurnool district and resides in Abinagar colony in Turkyanjal. He has been in the marijuana business for the past three years and has relationships with marijuana buyers in several states. In Bhadrachalam, he buys cannabis at low prices from agency areas and sells it at high prices in other states. Mandali Srinivas, Dabbadi Rajinikanth and Yachaharam Nagraj were his collaborators in this business.
After receiving an order from Shaheen and Majid from Mumbai, the four went to the agency area in two vehicles on the 20th of this month. There he bought 410 kg of cannabis from a man named Sattibabu and hid them under the seats inside the car. The pilot used his Verito car to evade police checks and left Bhadrachalam for Mumbai via ORR.
Elbinagar SOT and Keesara police on Wednesday intercepted and inspected vehicles at Keesara tollgate after receiving information on this. The accused were arrested and remanded. Police seized 410 kg of cannabis, two cars and three cellphones from them.
The main accused in the case, Venkat Narayana, has been booked in two police stations in the past. In 2019, there was a cannabis case at the Patamata police station in Vijayawada. Satti Babu from AOB area along with Venkat is accused in another cannabis case registered at Chityala police station in Nallagonda district. Venkat will also be remanded in old cases and will appear before the court, CP said. PD Acts will be registered against them.
