Tamil Nadu, Madurai: The Anti-Corruption Department raided the residence of the Deputy Tahsildar of Madurai district over allegations of accepting bribes to delay the auction of properties linked to a fraud case. In 2021-22, the owner of a private company implicated in a financial fraud reportedly sold properties acquired with illicit funds to two individuals. Following a court case filed by the victims, the court ordered the properties to be auctioned. However, it was alleged that the then Chief Revenue Officer, Dhanapandi, accepted a bribe exceeding ₹1.5 lakh to delay the auction process. Acting on the complaint, the Anti-Corruption Police registered a case, raided Dhanapandi’s residence, and confiscated documents. The raid on the government official’s house created a significant uproar.
