On 12.12.2023, the Special Judge handling CBI cases in Jammu sentenced Sh.B.B.Mittal, who served as the Executive Engineer (Construction/Doubling) for Northern Railway in Jammu at the time, to five years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.10,000/-. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated the case against Sh.B.B.Mittal, accusing him of demanding a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant to release a security amount of approximately Rs.7.5 lakhs. On 15.07.2009, the CBI conducted a trap operation and apprehended the accused in the act of demanding and accepting the bribe. Following an investigation, a charge sheet was filed on 11.03.2010, and the Trial Court subsequently found the accused guilty, leading to his conviction.
