<![CDATA[BHUBANESWAR/KORAPUT: Amidst massive public outrage over alleged gang rape of a schoolgirl by four suspected uniformed security personnel in Koraput on Tuesday, the police decided to take the rape survivor to nearest camps of border security force (BSF) and commando battalions for resolute action (CoBRA), a unit of central reserve police force (CRPF), for possible identification of the suspects, if any. The BSF and CRPF already informed the police that their personnel were not involved in the heinous offence. The police will even then take the victim to their camps so that the investigation can be done in a fair manner and urged the BSF and CRPF to cooperate in the investigation. The Standard IX girl aged 14, on Tuesday alleged she was kidnapped and raped by four armed security personnel, who were in jungle patch uniform near Kunduli under Pottangi police limits. Apart from Odisha police, the government mobilized BSF and CoBRA personnel in anti-Naxal operations in the Naxal-affected district. While the camp of BSF is located nearly 35 kilometres from the crime spot (Pottangi), CoBRA's headquarters in Sunabeda is nearly 25 from the crime scene. Police also did not rule out the possible involvement of local anti-socials and Maoists, who too can easily access the police uniform from market, behind the crime.The investigation is on to find out the persons (whether police, paramilitary personnel, civilians or Maoists), who committed the offence. Jungle patch clothes are worn by all types of people. The criminals will be arrested after investigation. The investigation is in progress from all angles and the state Crime Branch will assist the Koraput police in the investigation. Since it is a highly sensitive crime it has been categorized as a red flag case. A Crime Branch team already reached Koraput to assist the local police. Forensic science and medical experts also reached the spot.The condition of the rape victim is stable and the police have recorded her statement. The Odisha human rights commission asked the police, state ST and SC development department, district collector and superintendent of police to submit separate inquiry reports within seven days.
