New Delhi: Actor Rashmika Mandanna was announced on Tuesday as the national brand ambassador for the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), an initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to combat cybercrime in the country.
Known for films like “Pushpa: The Rise,” “Dear Comrade,” and “Animal,” Mandanna recently made headlines after a deepfake video of her went viral on social media earlier this year.
Having experienced the effects of cybercrime firsthand, Mandanna emphasized the need for “stricter measures to safeguard our online world.”
“Let’s come together to create a safer cyberspace for ourselves and future generations. As the brand ambassador for I4C, I’m committed to raising awareness and protecting as many of you as possible from cybercrimes. With the support of the Government of India, let me help you,” she shared in an Instagram post.
With 44.2 million Instagram followers and 4.9 million on X, Mandanna urged people to report cybercrimes by calling 1930 or visiting cybercrime.gov.in.
Cyber Dost, the MHA’s cyber-safety and cybersecurity awareness handle, welcomed Mandanna to the I4C team, posting on X: “Excited to onboard pan-India star @iamRashmika as I4C’s National Brand Ambassador. Together, we’ll strengthen India’s digital landscape and tackle cybercrimes head-on.”
The I4C was established by the MHA to create a framework and ecosystem for law enforcement agencies to address cybercrime in a coordinated and comprehensive way.
