Rajasthan, Jaipur: In Jaipur, the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA), in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), hosted a comprehensive inter-departmental dialogue on November 12 aimed at enhancing measures to prevent gender-based violence. This high-level program brought together influential leaders, including Mrs. Andrea M. Wojner, Chief Representative of UNFPA in India; Dr. Raviprakash Mehrada, Director General of Police (DGP) at the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Rajasthan Police; Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, DGP of Intelligence; Mr. Ashok Rathod, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Training; Mrs. Malini Agarwal, ADGP for Civil Rights; and Mr. S. Sengathir, ADGP and Director of the Rajasthan Police Academy.
In addition to these senior officials, numerous police officers and representatives from various governmental departments were in attendance, underscoring the importance of a collaborative, multi-agency approach to addressing gender-based violence across sectors.
The program centered on the theme “Multi-sectoral Cooperation in Socio-Ecological Frameworks: Effective Models to Address Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices.” Throughout the sessions, experts presented case studies and engaged in in-depth discussions on building multi-sectoral alliances, leveraging resources, and coordinating strategies to effectively tackle gender-based violence at community and institutional levels.
One of the primary topics explored was “Technology-Facilitated Approaches to Combat Gender-Based Violence,” where specialists shared recent advancements and innovative solutions. Discussions covered digital platforms for reporting incidents, mobile applications for emergency assistance, and data-driven analysis to understand patterns of violence, all aimed at empowering victims and enhancing the capacity of law enforcement. Experts also highlighted how these technological tools could support preventive measures, streamline response systems, and strengthen partnerships across government, non-profits, and the tech sector.
The event was an opportunity for departments to align on policies, share best practices, and propose future pathways for stronger, unified action against gender-based violence.
