Thiruvananthapuram: Mr. S. Surenderan IPS, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Police Headquarters said while creating awareness about excessive mobile usage, please be careful not to use mobile phones during meals together, in friendly conversations with friends, and when the couple is in the bedroom together, especially on social media.
Excessive mobile usage at the dining table should never be allowed. Not just the abdomen, The dining table in our homes should be a platform for the mind and appetite. Families today have a face-to-face mealtime as they stay on their mobile phones, texting and socializing even when family members are eating together. Autobiographies are dying. The over-emphasis on the distant invisible friend over the family in front of us fosters a kind of silent war atmosphere in our family relationships. This mobile use during mealtime is not unique to young people. It has spread to adults as well.
The mobile phone is one of the things that helps us to communicate and grow in relationships. However, its unintentional and inappropriate use has many dangers. Of which we see firsthand
We need to recognize the gaps that our overuse can unknowingly create in our family relationships rather than the danger.
