Kottayam: In Kottayam, the collaborative efforts of the Kottayam District Police and District Panchayat marked the official inauguration of the “Sahayatrika” initiative, a project dedicated to ensuring the safety of women during night journeys. The commencement event, inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat President Ms. K.V. Bindu, featured District Police Chief Mr. K. Karthik affixing the IPS project logo stickers on autorickshaws. District Collector Ms. V. Vigneswari IAS distributed identification cards to 32 auto drivers involved in the program at Kottayam Railway Station, KSRTC Bus Stand, and Nagampadam Stand. This safety initiative is a crucial step in enhancing the security of women during nighttime travel. The ceremony also saw the participation of Kottayam DySP Mr. Anish KG, Crime Branch DySP Mr. Varghese TM, and members of the Women’s Advisory Committee.
