<![CDATA[Maharashtra got its new Director General of Police on July 31, Sunday. A 1981 batch Indian Police Service officer Sathish Mathur took over as Maharashtra’s new Director General of Police (DGP) on July 31. Outgoing DGP Praveen Dixit formally handed over the charge to Sathish Mathur during a formal ceremony in Mumbai. Sathish Mathur is country’s first IPS officer to be trained by the elite National Security Guard, (NSG) and he is an alumni of St Stephen's. Mathur has served with the CBI during the 1993 serial blasts trial and also as the DCP in Pune. Mathur has also served as Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) in Mumbai and as ADG (Establishments), Maharashtra, before being appointed Commissioner of Police in Pune. ]]>
