CHENNAI: The Chennai City Police have launched a massive search for mischief makers who indulged in violence and attacked Ice House police station after violence broke out during Jallikattu protests on January 23, Police said here on Wednesday. The Police are studying the videos in which violence was unleashed against Police, including the attack on Ice House police station, said senior officers. After the Republic Day celebrations a thorough investigation will start, said a Police officer. Additional Commissioner (headquarters) Mr S N Seshasai on Wednesday said, “Most of the men who indulged in the violence have been indentified and investigating is on as to how the miscreants reached the venue, where they stayed and who were their friends with and very soon they will be arrested”. The officer said, the mischief makers misbehaved with many women personnel and added that all of them stayed in hotels and reached the Marina in the mornings to raise their demands. Nearly 102 police personnel were injured, dozens of police vehicles damaged and two police stations ransacked on Monday, the officer added. “When the students were told to disperse, around 3,500 of them agreed and left the beach in two hours. But the others were creating problems, in spite of this we did not lathicharge, he said. We lathicharged only after the remaining people started pelting stones at the police personnel, and no complaints filed against students or protestors, the Additional Commissioner said. ]]>
