Hyderabad City: With just 48 hours left for the Ganesh idol procession and immersion on the 17th, which coincides with other events at Public Gardens and Parade Grounds, and the start of Milad-Un-Nabi festivities tonight, the Hyderabad City Police have ramped up the final phase of their preparations.
Today, City Police Commissioner Mr. C.V. Anand held a video conference with zonal DCPs, SHOs, and the patrol and Blue Colts teams. During the meeting, Commissioner Anand highlighted the upcoming challenges and stressed several key aspects to consider when preparing bandobust plans. He underscored the importance of heightened security measures starting tonight, intelligence gathering, and the overall action plan. Blue Colts and patrol teams were directed to increase patrolling in lanes, bylanes, and areas with mixed communities.
Referring to last year’s lapses, he emphasized the need for a strong traffic management plan, particularly at critical junctions like Basheerbagh and MJ Market. “Traffic approaching these junctions from different roads must be proportionally managed,” he stated. DCPs were instructed to encourage organizers to expedite the movement of idols and provide necessary logistical support.
Key directives were issued regarding force accommodation, briefing external forces, communication systems, anti-sabotage checks, social media monitoring, and the deployment of SHE Teams, drones, and camera-mounted vehicles. Additional platoons will be strategically deployed as well.
Arrangements for the Milad-Un-Nabi procession on the 19th and other operational aspects were also discussed in depth. DCPs briefed the Commissioner on the measures being implemented in their respective jurisdictions.
Senior officials, including Mr. Vikram Singh Mann, IPS (Addl. CP L&O), Mr. P. Viswaprasad, IPS (Addl. CP Traffic), and the DCP (SB), engaged in detailed discussions on precautionary measures, the role of community leaders and youth, and road safety. The TGCCC and CCC at the old CP office in Basheerbagh will be operational from the early hours of immersion day, with representatives from all departments on-site to address any issues that may arise.
Mrs J. Parimala Hana Nutan IPS (Jt. CP Admin), Mrs. K. Shilpavalli IPS (DCP SMIT), Mrs. Rohini Priyadarshini IPS (DCP), Mr. P. Sai Chaitanya IPS (DCP), Mr. Chaitanya Kumar IPS (DCP Special Branch, Hyderabad), and other senior officers participated in the video conference.
