On July 11, 2023, the Central Crime Station unit of the A&N police force successfully seized 5.62 grams of Methamphetamine near Nescafe Shop at Mazar Pahad based on intelligence information. The Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID) announced the recent recovery of contraband and the arrest of the accused, S. Karthick, a 34-year-old private worker residing in Sippighat, Bambanallah, after thorough interrogation and technical analysis. Further investigation led to the identification and arrest of S. Balamurugan, a 23-year-old associate of S. Karthick, who was found in possession of 739 grams of Methamphetamine near Invent Public School, Bambanallah, Sippighat. Subsequently, more contraband items, totaling 202 grams of Methamphetamine, were recovered based on information from the accused persons. In total, 946.62 grams of Methamphetamine were seized during the operation. Through technical analysis and interrogation, the main supplier, Rajender Singh, was identified and apprehended. Rajender Singh revealed his involvement in obtaining approximately 1 kg of Methamphetamine from the sea shore of Campbell bay and supplying it to accused S. Karthick for distribution in Port Blair and surrounding areas at lucrative prices. The investigation, supported by call details and financial transactions, is ongoing to identify further links in the drug distribution network. The seizure of this substantial quantity of Methamphetamine underscores the Central Crime Station’s commitment to combating the drug menace in society, dealing a significant blow to the network of drug peddlers involved.
