Tamil Nadu, Ramanathapuram: A resident of Madurai district, engaged in the business of setting birthstones in jewelry for the past 30 years, filed a complaint regarding an incident that occurred on January 24, 2025. As per the complaint, the jeweler had informed a broker named Zakir from Sivakasi about possessing 7 grams of Alexander Jatika stone for sale, with a valid receipt. Zakir then introduced him to Ravi from Tirunelveli, who later contacted Abu Dahir and arranged a meeting near the railway gate by the old bus stand in Ramanathapuram.
Upon arrival at the location, seven individuals allegedly threatened the complainant and forcibly took away the Alexander Jatika stone, its receipt, a mobile phone, and Rs.15,000 in cash, amounting to a total loss of Rs.60,000 lakhs. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Ramanathapuram Nagar Police Station (Crime No. 42/2025) under Sections 140(1), 296(b), and 311 BNS.
