CHENNAI: The Sholavaram Police on January 16 arrested 10 people for conducting jallikattu at a forest department land near Sholavaram in Tiruvallur district. The arrest included the district secretary of Naam Tamizhar Katchi too. Several young men gathered at a place near Red Hills in which 15 bulls were brought in and were let loose in the morning, Police said. Youth belonging to Naam Thamizhar Katchi party and youth from nearby villages tried to tame the bulls. A Police team led by led Inspector of Police (IoP), Sholavaram station, rushed to the spot after receiving information, but people fled the venue. The party’s office-bearer Elumalai and nine others who had organized Jallikattu despite the Supreme Court ban were arrested, Police said.]]>
