Kollam Rural, Kerala: Sub-Inspector Jayesh T J has been honoured with the President’s Jeevan Raksha Padak Award in recognition of his exceptional courage and selfless act in saving the life of an elderly woman who accidentally fell into a well while he was serving at Puttur Police Station.
According to reports, upon receiving information about the incident, SI Jayesh T J rushed to the spot without delay. Assessing the gravity of the situation, and realizing that every second was crucial, he immediately descended into the well, risking his own life, and successfully rescued the woman who was in a critical condition. The challenging rescue operation was carried out with the assistance of local residents and required immense physical effort and determination.
Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, bravery, and compassion, the Sub-Inspector placed the safety of the victim above his own, exemplifying the highest ideals of police service. Following the rescue, the elderly woman was promptly shifted to a hospital, where timely medical treatment saved her life.
This courageous and humanitarian act, which went far beyond the call of routine police duty, earned SI Jayesh T J the prestigious President’s Jeevan Raksha Padak Award. His action stands as a shining example of dedication, valor, and commitment to public safety, bringing pride to the police force and inspiring fellow officers to serve society with courage and compassion.
