Siliguri: On 14.12.21 at about 12.30 pm two unknown persons came to the house of Mrs. Anju Sharma at Salbari, Pradhannaagar, and gave her a proposal to polish her gold ornaments.
In good faith, she gave her gold ornaments to them after which the culprits fled away with the gold ornaments. Two similar incidents had taken place under the Bhaktinagar Police Station area on 07.10.21 and 16.12.21.
Since the incident, a team of officers and men of Pradhanagar and Bhaktinagar Police Stations swung into action and after putting in a lot of ground and technical efforts they were able to detect the gang members who were involved in the case.
Subsequently, on 20.12.21 a team of officers and men of Pradhannaagar PS left for Kathiar, Bihar, and arrested one accused Guddu Mandal of Kathiar who was directly involved in the case.
On 22.12.21, leading to the confessional statement of the accused Guddu Mandal a police team of Pradhanagar Police Station again left for Bihar and arrested his accomplice namely Ajit Shivji Jagtap S/O Lt.Shivji Jagtap of Malewadi, Atpari Police Station, Sangli District, Maharashtra, presently residing at Sonapatti under Kishanganj Police station Bihar and recovered the stolen gold(in melted form) from his possession and also seized one motorcycle which the accused persons used during the commission of the crime.
