Siliguri: -Keeping up with their consistent and persistent efforts to dissuade elements bent on dismantling law and order in society, personnel from the NJP police station today apprehended three individuals for possessing a large quantity of ganja.
Acting on a tip-off from a secret source, the police team arrested Chandan Roy (36), S/o Late Keshtha Roy of Mohantapara, Mohitnagar P.O, Kotwali Police Station, Jalpaiguri district; Shambu Das (46), S/o Late Sudhnya Das of Gedipara, Bahadur P.O, Kotwali Police Station, Jalpaiguri District; and Swapan Roy (30), S/o Naren Roy of Babupara, Mohitnagar P.O, Kotwali Police Station, Jalpaiguri District.
The police team seized 120 kg of Ganja comprising 12 packets as well as two Maruti Wagon-R vehicles in which the contraband was being transported. The accused were arrested from the Fulbari Bazaar area.
A case under the NDPS Act is being initiated in connection with the arrests and seizures.
