Siliguri: On 9.7.21, a case was registered at Siliguri Police Station against a fraudulent company that had duped several residents of Siliguri and its surrounding areas lakhs of rupees on the pretext of helping them set up units to manufacture velvet pencils.
During the investigation of the case, after thorough tracking, the police team headed by Sub-Inspector Mr. Ashim Das of Panktanki outpost conducted extensive raids at Jaipur in Rajasthan and secured the arrest of Hemant Sharma, the principal accused, on 04.10.21 who was using various hideouts for a long time. Hemant has reportedly cheated the locals of Siliguri more than a whopping Rs.1.50 crore.
He was produced before the Ld Court in Jaipur, which allowed a seven-day transit remand. The accused was brought to Siliguri on 07.10.21 and will be presented before the designated court on Friday 8.10.21 wherein a petition will be filed seeking further police remand to continue with the investigation.
