Siliguri: On 16/06/21, representation of doctors led by Dr. Kalyan Khan, Dr. Sandip Sengupta of NBMC&H as well as President of Pathological Labs Association of Siliguri had met the Commissioner of Police, Siliguri in his office chamber and expressed their concern about persons involved in the illegal activities of making fake pathological reports taking advantage of the COVID Pandemic. Acting on this, as per the order of CP Siliguri, the Detective Department of SPC made a discreet inquiry, and on getting a lead, conducted a raid at the rented house of one Indrajit Kumar (41) at Indirapally, Shivmandir, Matigara Police Station, Siliguri and recovered the following incriminating articles: 04 number of blood test reports of different patients in the pad of Universal Diagnostic, Hakimpara Siliguri, 04 numbers of Blank Test Report pads of Universal Diagnostic, Hakimpara Siliguri and One Mobile phone, and arrested Indrajit Kumar for unauthorized use of Report Pad of ‘Universal Diagnostic’, to create fake Lab testing reports. The arrested accused person has been forwarded to the Ld Court today and has been taken in Police Custody for 05 days for further investigation.
The doctor’s representation also agreed to the suggestion that citizens should preferably book their appointments for sample collections from home, only through authorized contact numbers of laboratories.
People should avoid booking such sample collection(s) through middlemen. This will help in close monitoring of the collection process of various samples by the labs concerned so that no miscreant can take advantage of the process.
