Siliguri: The project “BAAGHINI”1 was formally launched today morning from the grounds of Siliguri Police Commissionerate in Mallaguri by Mr. Gaurav Sharma IPS, CP Siliguri in the presence of Mrs. Mantu Ghosh, Arjuna Awardee for Table Tennis, Mr. Nishant Mittal, Chairman, Indian Chambers of Commerce, North Bengal.
On Day 1, in the first half, the “BAAGHINIS” were given physical training on self-defense and unarmed combat techniques followed by yoga and meditation classes. In the post-lunch session the trainees were provided indoor classes about; Legal awareness and rights of women by Mrs. Purnima Sherpa, ADCP Traffic, SPC., Career aspirations by Sqn Leader Akakanksha Shukla, a pilot with Indian Air Force, Mental Health and Nutrition by Dr. Kamalika Mandal, MBBS( HONS), DPM, MD, MRCPSYCH ( LONDON) and Miss Poulami Pandit M.Sc (Dietetics and Nutrition).
