Rachakonda: Addressing the media, CP stated that Prajwala is a prestigious organization working to eradicate human trafficking from society. He said that thousands of victims captivated across the country in several cities have been rescued with the help of Prajwala. Post rescue operations, all the victims are provided with rehabilitation in Prajwala shelter homes. In addition to the rehabilitation, victims are also provided with financial assistance by the government, and houses as per the schemes, he added. CP mentioned that the Prajwala foundation also helped some victims to get married and reintegrate into society. CP also looking back said that initially Prajwala was started in a small house at Falaknuma and now it has become a gigantic tree and working in several states across the country. CP said that Mrs. Sunitha Krishnan also made efforts to formulate an ideal home and model rescue homes. CP appreciated the efforts of Prajwala in preparing best practices and manuals for Law enforcement officers, Prosecutors, and judiciary. Victim protocols, rescue protocols are prepared under the guidance of Sunitha madam.
CP extended his support to the new initiative of Prajwala “Rape victim support system” by Mrs. Sunitha Krishnan. CP hoped that the need of any such organization like Prajwala should not be there by the next 25 years wished for a society where human trafficking does not exist. CP motivated the victims to come forward to lodge complaints on the customers and trafficking agents bravely and help the judiciary to put the offenders behind the bars. CP commended Prajwala for helping the judiciary, women and child welfare department, law enforcement, and prosecution to eradicate all forms of human trafficking from society. CP said that the Rachakonda Anti Human Trafficking Unit along with SOT teams and law and order teams collectively fought human trafficking and rescued many victims of just not India and also victims arrived from Uganda, Tanzania, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other neighboring countries. PD Acts are being invoked against human traffickers and the places that support such activities are immediately seized, CP added. CP stated that around seven hundred victims have been rescued in the last five years in the limits of Rachakonda Commissionerate and all the victims are rehabilitated with the help of Prajwala.
Addressing the media Mrs. Sunitha Krishnan said that, aiming at making the society free from human trafficking Prajwala is working on the five pillars of Prevention, Rescue, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Advocacy. She said that Prajwala is a pioneering civil society that has been demonstrating the various possibilities on the ground to combat human trafficking. Sunitha Krishnan stated that involving and encouraging human trafficking is a heinous crime and opined that it is a shame to any civilized society. She stated that human trafficking is a major problem across the globe and many organizations are working to put an end to this problem.
She said that the mental and physical trauma that any human trafficking victim undergoes is horrible and very painful. She opined that along with the human trafficking agents the people who encourage it are equally responsible for the growing violence against women victims in society. She said that the Prajwala organization has assisted the police in saving over 24,500 victims from sex slavery. She said that Prajwala’s community-based prevention program has sensitized over 2 million vulnerable communities across several states. She said that several unique models of therapeutic care and rehabilitation of the Prajwala organization are acclaimed as best practice models globally. She hoped that there will be no need for Prajwala after 25 years and pledged to work harder and eradicate human trafficking from society.
