Uttarakhand, Almora: The Someshwar Police Station conducted a comprehensive awareness campaign in the Someshwar market, aiming to educate and sensitize the public about the dangers of drug abuse while promoting a drug-free lifestyle. The initiative, held on February 14, 2025, was led by SHO Someshwar, Shri Kashmir Singh, along with his police team, who actively engaged with the local community to highlight the severe physical, mental, and social consequences of drug addiction.
During the awareness drive, the police officials urged the people present to not only pledge to stay away from drugs themselves but also to encourage their family members, friends, and society at large to refrain from drug consumption. The officers emphasized how substance abuse can severely impact individuals’ health, disrupt families, and contribute to criminal activities, ultimately endangering the well-being of society.
Beyond drug prevention, the police team also took the opportunity to educate citizens on several other important issues, including traffic regulations, cybercrime awareness, recent legal developments, and tenant verification procedures. They explained the significance of following traffic rules to prevent accidents and ensure road safety, as well as the rising threats of cyber fraud, urging people to remain vigilant against online scams and fraudulent activities.
Additionally, the public was informed about various essential helpline numbers that can be used in emergencies. These included:
Uttarakhand Police Helpline – Dial 112 (for general emergencies)
Women Helpline – 1090 (for women’s safety and assistance)
