Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, October 16: Srikakulam District Superintendent of Police Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, IPS, stated that strict legal action is being taken against those involved in gambling and drunk driving cases as part of the district’s ongoing drive to curb anti-social activities.
In cases registered by SI S.M. Harikrishna of Srikakulam One Town Police Station, six individuals involved in card gambling were produced before the Hon’ble Second Class Judicial Magistrate, Sri K. Siva Ramakrishna Garu. Upon trial, the court sentenced four accused — Gudla Sarvaji, Potnuru Suryanarayana, Varanasi Saikumar, and Andavarapu Ravikumar — to one month of simple imprisonment, while two others, Gudla Sridhar and Korada Nagaraju, were fined Rs. 3,000 each.
Similarly, in a drunk and drive case registered on 15.10.2025, Sadu Krishna of Tangivanipeta village was found guilty and sentenced to one month’s simple imprisonment by the Second Class Judicial Magistrate.
SP Maheshwara Reddy emphasized that such decisive action serves as a warning to those engaging in illegal gambling, drunk driving, and other public nuisance activities. He reiterated that the Srikakulam Police will continue to take firm measures to maintain public order and ensure community safety.
